Engineered Flooring 

An engineering floor, by definition, is a base of multi-plywood and above a sheet of solid plywood. Engineering floors are often confused with Pergo, but these could not be more different. Pergo, known as laminate flooring, has only one image of laminated wood over it, usually plasticized or compressed in cardboard or recycled wood.

Engineering floors were developed in Europe because solid floors do not work well with radiant heat radiators. Because of this fact, engineering floors are more stable than solids and can be installed in certain environments that solid floors should not be installed. Taking into account the proper subsoil conditions, engineering floors can be installed from different options such as: nailed, glued, or floated.

Solid flooring

There are mainly two types of solid floors: pre-finished and unfinished. The only difference between these two types is that the pre-finished ones are polished and varnished before being installed. All these floors are protected with ceramic UV finish and are 100% selected wood, especially bamboo. 

These solid floors can be used on any surface that does not contain high moisture content and preferably there is no radiant under floor heating. The acoustics, hardness, and appearance are similar and sometimes superior to any solid wood you find on the market, with the great difference that these are renewable in the short term.

Between floors of engineering and solid floors, there are three types:

What exactly does a bamboo wood floor mean?

Bamboo is wood with resistant fibers, flexible and ecological. This material has become the substitute of other species. Gives rise to tables for floors of high quality, excellent appearance, and indefinite duration. They are very hard and tough "woods" that offer the advantage of not having to cut down forests to make floors. And you would never believe they were bamboo. 

Bamboo flooring reviews can be of various colors, according to the processing of the poles before their manufacture. They can be as clear as beech, as pink as cherry or as dark as mahogany. The decks of many cruise ships, such as those of the "Seven Sees" are made of bamboo, as are the floors of several international hotel chains, among other floors famous for their appearance and intensity of traffic.

Wood floors are so common that one often forgets that there are other alternatives to put on its floor. Bamboo flooring reviews have proven that it works better than several kinds of wood flooring. Originally from Asia, bamboo is a flexible but very resistant plant. Sold in the form of slats, solid parquet, roller or floating parquet, bamboo often has the appearance of wood when laid as the floor. It may have a natural or charred color. 

In most cases, except for floating floors, installation requires nails or glue. It is a durable, renewable and moisture resistant material. It is suitable for all rooms of a house except those with a moisture content of more than 60%.

Cork flooring

The cork is derived from the bark of the cork oak. This material is found in the form of tiles, rollers and floating coatings. Its installation often requires the installation of a vapor barrier membrane beforehand. To install the floor parts, the special glue must be used. In addition to being renewable, ecological and durable, this material is fire and water resistant. It dampens shocks and is an excellent thermal and sound insulation.

However, a cork will tend to be damaged by heavy objects (furniture, etc.). Moreover, its soundproofing properties dissipate when it is too hardened by varnishing. The use of PVC as a protective layer corrects this problem. Beware, however, of poor quality cork, which may be too malleable, as well as plastic counterfeits.
